Frequently Asked Questions

What do you write?

I write science fiction and fantasy books and comics for all ages.

  • A Fable for Hollow creatures is about a bitter monster hunter and a charming monster teaming up to fight something much worse. It’s releasing fall of 2026.

  • Not Even Bones is about a girl who dissects monsters and sells their bodies on the internet. It has two sequels, Only Ashes Remain, and When Villains Rise. It has also been adapted into a comic on Webtoon.

  • City of Nightmares and the sequel, Cage of Dreams, are about a world where people turn into their worst nightmares. It’s a comedic fantasy, inspired by Gotham.

  • Dead But Not Gone, is a comic about a ghost who wants to become alive again by possessing the teenager who’s just moved into the house he’s haunting.

Is Not Even Bones part of a series?

Yes! The series is called Market of Monsters, and there will be three books: Not Even Bones, Only Ashes Remain, and When Villains Rise

Where Can I read your books?

All sorts of places! You can order the physical, ebook, or audiobook copies off Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Chapters, Book Depository, Indiebound, or buy them at local bookstores. You can also read them at your local library, or rent your local library’s ebook or audiobook!

There’s a WEBTOON adaption of not even bones?!

Yes, there is! You can read it here.

ISn’t the Webtoon copyright infringement?

No! It’s not! This is a licensed adaption, which means that Webtoon paid the author (me) for the right to adapt the novel, and that the author gets a share of the revenue from the Webtoon. Copyright infringement only occurs when adaptions are unlicensed, made without the knowledge or consent of their creator, and without paying the creator for the right to adapt the story.

I read some of the webtoon. Can I just jump in part way through the book?

I don’t recommend it. The Webtoon has changed certain things in the book, and so it would be pretty confusing if you just jumped in midway. I recommend treating each version as its own thing, and not skipping ahead.

The characters in the webtoon don’t look the way i imagined…

That’s all right! We all imagine people differently. Ten people can read the same description and come up with ten different images. We each bring our own preconceptions, biases, ideas of attractiveness or ugliness into the way we imagine people.

I love your stories! How can I support your work?

Thank you! I'm glad to hear it. Here's a few ways you can help!

  • Buy my books! Put them on your shelves! Give them away as a macabre holiday gift! The more books I sell, the more likely my publisher is going to be to continue publishing me.

  • Pre-order any future releases I have coming out.

  • Fast pass my webtoons! Recommend them to friends, and spread the word about them. (Please only read on Webtoon and NOT on any pirate sites. I get ad revenue if you read on Webtoon, and I don’t other places).

  • Ask your local library to buy my books! Ask them to buy in multiple editions—hardcover, ebook, audiobook, etc so that more people can discover it!

  • Leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, Chapters, or any other major bookstore platform!

  • Tell your friends, spread the word.

  • Buy the books. Truly, I cannot stress this enough. Buy some books.

  • Talk about my books on social media, especially during release times.

  • Post your fan art and tag me in it so I can share it!

Have you done interviews?

I have! I’ve done plenty of interviews over the years, so if there are questions you don’t see answered here, try out one of these:

Interview with Mary Robinette Kowal

Interview With Literary Rambles

Interview with Ensconced in Lit

Will you read my book?

Probably not. I just don't have time or energy to help everyone, much as I'd like to. I do occasionally participate in mentorship contests, such as Pitch Wars and Author Mentor Match. If you want to work with me, check out if I've signed up to mentor this round and apply!

I messaged you a question on instagram/Threads/email/TIKTOK/etc and you didn’t answer…

I’m sorry, I get a lot of messages, and I don’t always have time to answer everyone. That said, there are certain types of questions I will not answer, as follows:

  • anything that would entail publicly posting major spoilers, or anything where the answer would mean revealing spoilers for unpublished books/comics

  • anything racist/sexist/homophobic/etc.

  • any form of harassment/threats/phishing.

  • personal questions. I’m happy to answer book questions, but my personal life is personal.

I also try not to answer questions that I think would intrude on the fandom’s fun. Some authors hate when people make headcanons and explore worlds in fannish ways, but I think for many people, a lot of their enjoyment of a book is in how they interact with it after it’s finished. The way it sparks the imagination. And I don’t answer questions where I think the answer would quash that spark. Sometimes people think they want to know something, but half of the fun is your imagination of it. It’s Schrodinger’s answer—until I say something, any answer could be possible.

Will you come to my school/city/batcave?

Unfortunately, it’s usually not up to me where I go. Conferences have to invite me to things because travel is expensive! But I absolutely love travel and events and chatting with fans, so I try to do as many things as I can. You can check my Events page to see what I have coming up.

Did you know there’s a dead actress with your name?

Yes, I know. No, we’re not related. No, I’m not dead and writing books from beyond the grave, though that does sound like something I would do.

How can I contact you?

There's a contact section of the webpage here, with all sorts of information on how to get in touch with me for different things. You can also follow me on instagram if you want updates on things.
